Welcome to the Western
Health Action Zone Website
The Western Health Action Zone (HAZ) has been established to improve the health and well-being of older people and families living in poverty across the West. It develops new ways of working and facilitates partnership action among agencies across the statutory, local authority, voluntary, community and private sectors.
WHAZ is an integral part of the Western Investing for Health Partnership (WIFH). The WIFH Partnership has responsibility to oversee the delivery of the WHAZ Action Plan.
The HAZ uses a community development approach. It responds to the identified needs of the community and empowers local people to counter inequalities through co-operative action.
The HAZ promotes the sharing of information and ideas and welcomes participation and feedback from those who use this site.
